On the 6th of October 2016, 5th and 6th class went to Dáil Éireann. In Dáil Éireann, we met Darragh O’Brien our local TD. We also had a tour of the Dáil chambers and Seanad Éireann.
We saw a real debate going on in the Seanad Éireann. David Norris was talking and he was very angry. We learnt that the Dáil and Seanad Éireann are the centre of political debate in Ireland. Both Dáil Éireann and Seanad Éireann belong to the people of Ireland.
We saw portraits of the past Taoisigh of Ireland. We also saw a portrait of Countess Markievicz.
Before 5th and 6th class went to Dáil Éireann, we went to St Stephens Green to have our lunch.
At the end of our trip we had our picture taken with Darragh O’Brien after a question and answer session learning about the life of a TD. The tour guide said that we were the best behaved class he ever took on a tour around the Dáil and that we had a superb knowledge of all things 1916!
