On Friday the 28th of September, we started our first science experiment of the year. It was called spreading weight. We used a bottle, a tray of sand and a pencil, to do this experiment:
First of all, we pushed a pencil into the tray of sand. Then we pushed the top of the bottle into the tray of sand. After this we pushed the opposite end of the bottle into the sand and it was much harder, then the other two items. The results of this experiment were that it was easier to push narrow things into the sand than wider things. This is because when things are wider the weight is spread evenly. We enjoyed this project because it was interesting to know how the light weight went into the sand easier.
