Skerries Soundwaves
Skerries Soundwaves is an annual festival which celebrates local talent of artists, musicians and many more. This year’s theme was sea life and ancient Ireland. All the local primary schools in the area were fortunate to be assigned a local artist to help them with their project.
Everybody in 5th and 6th class was excited to see our local artist Nunce. We quickly brainstormed ideas for our creations to be showcased at the festival. There was a mermaid, dolphins, a whale, fish, a sea, a boat, masks and beautiful Celtic Torcs. We thoroughly enjoyed working with our local artist Nunce, our parent helper Connie and the amazing T.Y students from Skerries Community College.
For the duration of this project we used a range of materials and we were extremely pleased with our end results. We held a mini parade for the rest of the school on Friday the 18th of September. Everybody was impressed with our creativity and all the hard work we put into our projects.
We are looking forward to the parade on Sunday the 27th of September. The parade starts at 7pm and finishes with fireworks in the harbour. We hope to see you all there.
We are really looking forward to next year’s project.
